RISE joins the TT4I Network to strengthen impact-driven technology transfer
Technologies, innovations, and research results rarely move forward on their own. Facilitating exploitation strategies, providing training, connecting stakeholders, and understanding the needs of policy, industry, and society are all part of creating the conditions in which they can be taken further and used effectively.
Over the years, this has meant working with various initiatives, technologies, and innovation outcomes: some that move towards commercialisation, some that are applied in societal contexts, and others that are still exploring new pathways. The common element is the effort to understand where value can be created and how promising innovations can reach the organisations, communities, and markets where they can make a difference.
RISE has long been involved in initiatives that explore new approaches to knowledge valorisation and technology transfer. Impact Licensing is one such approach, seeking to create pathways that recognise both economic and societal value. One of its key implementation mechanisms is the Tech Transfer Facilities for Impact (TT4I) network, which brings together organisations working to identify, license, and deploy technologies with societal potential. Recognising the strong alignment with its mission and activities, RISE recently signed a collaboration agreement and formally became part of the network.
Within the network, RISE will focus on the screening of technologies, identifying those with potential for deployment in different contexts and helping connect them with suitable partners and pathways for implementation.
This role is closely connected to RISE's work across Widening countries and regions, where promising technologies do not always reach the partners, markets, or deployment opportunities that match their potential. Through the TT4I network, RISE will help identify such opportunities earlier and connect technologies with actors that can support their further development and use. In this way, the network creates new pathways for innovations that might otherwise remain underutilised.
Participation in the TT4I network also reflects a commitment to initiatives designed to continue beyond the lifespan of individual projects. By helping shape the network from an early stage, RISE is contributing to the development of a structure intended to support impact licensing and technology repurposing in the long term.
