RISE joins forces with the new European IP Helpdesk Consortium

On February 7, 2024, a new chapter in intellectual property (IP) advisory services commenced for European small and medium enterprises (SMEs), innovators, and beneficiaries of EU-funded research and innovation (R&I) projects, thanks to the European IP Helpdesk team. Alongside stakeholders within European innovation ecosystems, such as universities, public research organisations, and spin-offs, the consortium launched a revamped suite of services aimed at empowering Europe's innovators.

For years, Eurice has led the IP Helpdesk service with excellence, and now, in partnership with the University of Alicante (Spain) and Research and Innovation Services – RISE d.o.o., it continues to take the helm in coordinating the consortium. This collaboration signifies a united effort to provide robust support tailored to the needs of Europe's diverse innovation landscape.

The enhanced Helpdesk service leverages an array of resources, including an accessible helpline, an informative website, a comprehensive training program, and guiding materials. Additionally, the consortium will undertake awareness-raising initiatives, shedding light on crucial IP-related topics and knowledge valorisation practices.

Furthermore, the European IP Helpdesk remains committed to close collaboration with key stakeholders in the European IP and innovation advisory sphere. Notably, efforts will be intensified to engage IP actors from EU-13 countries and showcase successful SME innovation pathways. In this context, RISE will play an important role as it brings extensive expertise, particularly in addressing the distinctive requirements of the EU-13 countries. With RISE aligning with the European IP Helpdesk Consortium, our shared objective is to empower European innovators while safeguarding their intellectual property rights.

“We are thrilled to become a member of the well-established, successful and appreciated IP Helpdesk service, brilliantly led by our sister company Eurice,” says Smiljka Vikić-Topić, RISE's Head of Office. “In this new chapter we are bringing our expertise and experience in the needs of innovation ecosystem stakeholders in EU-13 countries. We’ll do our best to empower their position in the EU innovation landscape by raising awareness and building competences in the field of IP and knowledge valorisation.”

Ivana Vuka, RISE’s Innovation Manager, shared insights into RISE's forthcoming tasks, stating, “We are excited that we can use our experience and contacts in building a strong community of practice with all relevant stakeholders when it comes to innovation and IP management. Since RISE is based in one of EU-13 countries, our special focus will be on raising awareness, capacity building and leveraging knowledge valorisation in countries where IP traditionally is not exploited as much as in the rest of EU.”
